Artist Talk | Mystic State
We talk to Bristol based producer duo Mystic State this Artist Talk.
Hailing from Bristol, UK, Mystic State is a tour-de-force in electronic music production, forged from the creative minds of Will Marquiss and Mike Holliday.
Their journey began in the world of turntablism during their formative teenage years, leading them to an impassioned dive into music production where Mystic State was born. As artisans of sound, Mystic State is celebrated for their crystal clear productions that are immediately identifiable, marked by a signature blend that captures the essence of late 90's jungle, dub, and ambient sounds.
Their debut solo album, "My Own Private Island," released under their own label The Chikara Project, was met with resounding acclaim. A steady stream of exceptional releases followed on J:Kenzo's label Artikal Music, where they unveiled gems like "Mahdi", "Tomahawk" and "‘Gallows" all heralded as some of the finest dubstep tracks of their time, more to come from them on Artikal in 2024.
In 2023, Mystic State released ‘’The Last Lotus’’ with Truth's label Deep, Dark & Dangerous which was considered some of their best work to date at the 140 tempo. Forever climbing and branching out, the pair are excelling into 2024 with more plans to shake up the foundations of electronic music for generations to come.

Keep up to date on all things CDR
Since we started back in 2001, CDR has been all about community, creating spaces for people to connect and develop through music.
Back in the Plastic People days, you could fit all of us in one small room around one soundsystem. Today, our projects and programmes extend from the dancefloor to schools, youth centres, as well as grassroots clubs and venues across the country and further afield. But in challenging times, with grassroots organisations like ours closing all around us, every bit of support counts.
Your help will enable us to continue delivering music programmes and events in the UK to the people who need it most. Our mission is simple: to build an equitable music ecosystem for producers and artists.
